We recently purchased wood materials from Van Acht in Randburg also requested a dark brown stain/varnish, we were advised to use the product sold by Van Acht. Our invoice was R18 000 for the materials including the dark brown (clearly marked on the tins) stain/varnish. Apon applying the dark brown varnish my carpenter brought to my attention the varnish was not the correct colour of dark brown but rather a orange colour. I instructed him not to continue until i made contact with Van Acht. My wife called the branch and shockingly was given some long story by Ettiene the manager that it was normal for the colour to be like that. I soon called myself and spoke to Ettiene, the story changed & he agreed, quote " I don't know why the tin is actually marked as dark brown because its actually a orange colour". He agreed to refund us the full amount of 3 tins we purchased including the 1 tin that was opened, later to discover that he only refunded us for 2 tins as he said we already opened the 1 tin. I called Ettiene to complain about this, he gave me bad attitude & said they will not refund us the opened tin & slammed the phone in my ear. Poor service & selling inferior products Van Acht!
