I have 6 air-conditioning units; most installed by Absolute Chilled Airconditioning and all are serviced by them on an annual basis. I generally have not got alternative quotes as I thought they are reputable and honest.
Last month when I had my units serviced I was told that a remote was faulty and that a replacement would be sent to me when the technicians were next in our area.
The following week I received an invoice for R599.64 for my remote.
I was annoyed as I thought this was part of my service fee (was not given a separate quote) and that the price is very high for a generic remote. I queried the price and was told that this was a reasonable price due to their high cost of purchasing the remotes.
I looked on the internet and found that a number of suppliers sell identical remotes for R125, R139 and even R90 if bought in bulk! All these suppliers are in the same area and some deliver for for free!
How can Absolute Chilled Airconditioning think it is acceptable to charge a long term client R600 for a remote others sell for R125 and try justify it as high cost price cost prices.
How much more to they ripping people off in other areas?
