Home Rescuers
Sustained Incompetence, breach of contract

Home Rescuers were appointed to remedy rising damp, install a verandah pergola roof structure, and build in an above ground jacuzzi. Work started in November 2012, with a 3 week build period.

Progress was acceptable to begin with, albeit messy. Damp proofing was soon complete, as was roof structure (with some pretty obvious design flaws).

Then came the delays, and the sob stories. And being a nice guy, I fell for it all...

The jacuzzi; Garrick and his team can't even build a straight wall on their own accord. The tiling has had to be redone 3 times. The walls have had to be rebuilt 3 times. The jacuzzi plumbing STILL does not work, 6 months later after 4 recalls.

He requested additional payment, agreeing to a refund if the work was not complete on time - he did not honour this agreement. The work area is still a complete mess, and he has moved off site (granted, I don't want him back in any case).

On "completion" he requested and additional R3k, because "it was a learning curve".

This man and his team are seemingly incompetent, and I would advise anyone to stay well away from them, unless you enjoy poor quality, late and incomplete work.

Oh you are not alone. I fell for it too. Sob stories and all. Lost a deposit worth at least three times the work done. Garrick von Graevenitz is a little scammer. Sad story is that there is no mechanism in South Africa to stop guys like this to find next victims.
