On the 18th of August 2012, we emplyed Dean Bagley from Circle B Property Services to do the electrics for the house that we were building. We paid him a sum of R38, 000 up front with the balance due on completion of the project.
For the first two months Dean's workers came to site and some work was carried out but by November 2012, Dean's appearance on site dwindled. In December he promised several times to get to site but always had excuses for his absence.
By January 2013 we still hadn't heard from Dean. He had completed only one fifth of the job and had been sloppy and negliget (for example he put wires for a light switch inside the bathroom which is completely illegal).
The reasons for his non-attendance became even more colourful with tick-bite fever and snake bites being used for added drama. His phone seemed to permanently fall into swimming pools and toilets and as a result he "did not get the call".
In February, he came to collect the distribution board which he was going to exchange for a surface mounted one and promised to be back the following day to commence with the work. From that day onwards we have not heard a word from him.
