I bought a Dell ST2310 23inch full HD monitor about 2 years ago, manufacture date of June 2010 SN/ CZ-0W187R-73608-06A-2CEL. service tag no. REV A00. Well the monitor just died (backlight) So I tried to check the warranty status on Dell SA's website, doesn't help, the service tag no. REV A00 doesn't work, then phoned Dell in Joberg and gave them my serial number, oh, they cant do anything because they can't find that serial number and they can't help me. I must now try and find the order number for the monitor. How can an international company such as Dell not keep a database of their own serial numbers and service tags numbers. To buy a R1500 product that was only manufactured in June 2010 and it is already busted, come on man. LCD's should last a bit longer than that and all I want from dell is to just find out the Warranty status of this monitor.
Now I have to use my 5 yo 15 inch Samsung Syncmaster as my main screen, hey at least it still works perfectly after 5 years of continous use. The Dell monitor was my 1st ever Dell product and I can safely say its my last ever Dell product I will buy.
