Victorious Technologies
Deducting Airtime

My mother who is 73 years old complained that her airtime was disappearing without her using her phone. After contacting her service provider, we were told that Victorious Technologies was deducting her airtime. I phoned their call centre, and was told my mother had downloaded their app for love sms's. I tried explaining she's 73, my father died 10 years ago, and she has no access to internet. She has a simple phone that allows her to phone and send sms's. The call centre woman said someone else must have used her phone. I tried explaining it was impossible. She said the app was downloaded. A confirmation sms would have been sent, and my mother must have accepted it. My mother never received such an sms. And if she is being charged R3 on a daily basis, shouldn't she be getting love sms's or whatever it is that she is supposedly subscribed to? How does that work? Is this just a "legal" way of innocent people's money? How many other people are losing money this way on a daily basis without realising it? My mother has now been unsubscribed, but for how long??? Can this company be held responsible for the loss of money, or can they be brought to book?
