With some sleuthing I figured I got the email below from a Vodacom address as a result of my report here https:///vodacom/complaints/more-unexplained--happening-1081796

Note the last few numbers there and compare with email contents/references: 1081796

I have already replied to the email telling them to sod-the--off since I obviously know its a /data mining attempt.
