I was interested in one of the vehicles at the EJX AUTO dealership and was asked by the salesperson to pay a R5000 holding deposit, which I did (Monday 4th Feb 2013). I made it crystal clear that I could only afford the car if my current vehicle could not be sold for the right price. A buyer for my car was found by me (Wednesday 6th Feb 2013) but unfortunately pulled out at the last minute (Friday 8th Feb 2013). After a few more days of advertising on several websites (OLX, Gumtree & Autoworld) I still had no other buyers. So, as a matter of courtesy, I contacted the EJX AUTO dealership (Monday 11th Feb 2013), informing the salesperson what had happened and then requested that my R5000 holding deposit be refunded.
At this point I was informed the R5000 holding deposit was nonrefundable, which is utterly ridiculous.
After stating my case clearly to Rudif after he requested to "Let me know your views" he remains unmoved, offering to pay back only R2500, and after several emails back and forth, he has now decided to take the standpoint of "I'm not debating this with you. Do whatever you must."
And so be it Rudi, this is what I must do-nothing personal-and this is just the beginning!
