Deposit not repaired back

My insurance organised for me a courtesy car with Avis from 18 December 2013 until 17 January 2014. I paid the deposit required to get the car, and was made aware that it would take 5 to 7 working days for the repayment upon returning the car.
The car was returned to Avis Sandton on 17 January 2014 with no damage and with full tank as per agreement.
By Thursday, 23 January 2014 my deposit had not yet been paid back into my cheque card. I duly called Avis, and was adviced that my issue has been logged with their merchant bank (Nedbank) which should make sure I am paid back by latest monday, 27th January 2014.
Avis has been earning interest on my money during the rental period, its been over 9 working days excluding weekends since they got their car back and maybe rented out to another client. Why do I still not have to beg to get what is rightfully my hard earned money.

Please attend to this urgently.
