Audi: Exorbitant Price and Bad Product

On 16 March 2012 my battery of my Audi A3 gave me problems. I took my car to Audi Centre Northcliff to have it checked and was informed that my battery had to be replaced which I did. I was charged R3, 197.45 for the replacement battery. I only realized subsequently that that is an exorbitant price for a battery. In hindsight I should have contacted other companies to obtain quotes. However, not knowing better and trusting Audi (I have been very happy with their service until then) I assumed (incorrectly) that the price would be competitive.

Today I had to change my battery again. I understand that a battery should, on average, last about 3 years. My very expensive Audi battery only lasted approximately 21 months. Luckily my Willard battery cost me only R1, 195. Less than half the cost of the Audi battery.

Although I have generally been happy with Audi Centre Northcliff's service and love my A3, I will think twice about purchasing an Audi again. This experience has been very disappointing to say the least.
