I rented a Ford Fiesta 1.4 for 1 day from Budget's offices at Cape Town airport on 23 Nov 2013. On receiving my invoice from Budget, I was charged a refueling fee, even though I had refueled the vehicle at the BP Service Station at Cape Town Airport (I provided Budget with a copy of the slip from BP). I sent Budget an e-mail enquiring why they had to add additional fuel and I received a response saying that the car was not full when returned. The total consumption therefore, according to Budget, was 9.21km per litre. I thought I had rented a Ford Fiesta 1.4 but obviously I was upgraded to an Airbus A380 at that level of consumption. Last week I rented a Kia Rio 1.4 from Europcar in Cape Town and the consumption was 12.65km per litre (I can provide you with an invoice). My actual gripe is that Budget deducted R2000 from my credit card as a holding deposit for the rental on 23 Nov 2014. I handed the car back more than 2 weeks ago but the reversal of R1734.83 was never processed by Budget to my credit card. Therefore the rental of a Ford Fiesta 1.4 from Budget for 1 day, travelling a total distance of 80kms, has cost me a total of R2000. I will never rent from Budget again.
