I was recommended Budget by friends at UCT and Rhodes University. I booked well in advance and was incredibly impressed with the customer service at the call centre, Kgabo. Friendly, informed and very helpful.
I went to confirm pickup on Monday at the Newlands/Rondebosch branch round the corner from my office. I was assured that although it was a public holiday, that I could come in just after 8 to pickup the car this Friday. What I would expect.
Yesterday I was called and told that I would have to go to the airport to pickup the car this Friday. No explanation was given. I got the distinct impression that Budget in Newlands didn't feel like coming in this Friday and would rather I caught a taxi to the airport to pickup the car. Customer satisfaction dropped from a 10 to a 1.
Avis had actually come in cheaper on the quote. But Budget being highly recommended, and being round the corner from me made me choose them. I wish I had booked with Avis. I hope Budget take note. I am an unhappy customer.
