I bought a second hand Harley from Harley Davidson Pretoria. They send the bike via a courier to me in Somerset West. When the bike was offloaded it did not want to start. I reported the problem to them. After taking it first to Harley Tyger Valley and then an independent dealer it was found that the starter motor is faulty. I took it up with Harley Davidson Pretoria who told me the bike was sold "as is" or "voetstoots". I explaind to them that with the new customer protection act they are not allowed to sell it "as is" because it does no longer apply. They basically told me that I don't know how to start a Harley and in fact that the Harley they advertised and sold to me is not a Harley. ( I own a second Harley, so I know how to start one)
They also supplied me with a roadworthy certificated but it is not legal because the bike has no indicators and there is a deep cut on the back tyre.
So if you buy a bike from Harley Davidson Pretoria make sure it is a Harley the sell to you. Also take an expert with to make sure they are not hiding mechanical faults. Also make sure the bike is really roadworthy because the certificates the supply is not legal.
