Why are there grey areas?

I phoned Honda Sandton to buy a second hand motorbike which they said they had. Upon my arrival they said that they did in fact not have second hand bikes, instead I can buy a brand new bike at the price listed on the internet. I queried them about a discount and they eventually agreed. After paying the money and receiving the bike, I understood that this bike has had a previous owner, which makes the bike second hand, and also that the warranty has expired. I am currently in possession of the bike but cannot ride it as I have still not received the license papers from Honda (which has been promised 2 days in a row on the day). What worries me most is that they wanted to charge me the price of a brand new bike for one that does not have a warranty and over 1400km on the clock.
