I was recommended by a colleague to try the Roast Duck on Pepperjam from Spicewok in Amanzimtoti where I live. Not too badly priced at R89 and being a lover of roast duck, I ordered a take-away last nite, 5th March, 2013. Duly picked up my food and went home. When I opened the container I was shocked to see that it was filled with noodles to the brim and on top lay 6 thin slices of what looked like a dehydrated duck breast to me.
Needless to say, my two dogs ended up eating duck and soy noodles for dinner. I phoned the restaurant this morning and spoke to someone called Cookie?? Who was on the defense and told me that it was a half deboned duck that was placed on that bed of noodles and she can't believe what I was telling her. No offer of an apology, no sorry, customer, what can I do to retain your custom. Later the Manager phoned me with the same story but at least offered to let me have a fresh take away which I declined. NEVER will I buy anything from them - total rip-off. They do not believe they are misleading their diners. I owned a restaurant for 6 years and I know when people are scrimping!!!
