My fiance and I decided to go for lunch at Moyo, in Melrose Arch. The food was aweful. Our waiter suggested that we try the platter for two which unknowing to us was really expensive. We ordered two rump fillets which tasted like they had been slapped on a braai. The rump fillet tasted like charcoal, it was flavourless. The mushroom and pepper sauce that accompanied each of our main meals tasted exactly the same. It took forever for our waiter to finally plod down the stairs and bring us our bill. The bill amounted to R691 rand. I was shocked by the price considering that I could find more flavour in a packet of Simba chips. Most of our food tasted like grass. We paid the bill and gave the waiter a R15 tip, it was what we felt grateful for and what we felt he had earned, considering the bad service, bad food and bad attitude, he called us back and told us that we MUST pay between 10% to 15% of the bill to him as a tip. I told him that I had tipped him what I thought he deserved. He said it was OK and finally stormed off. All the other customers in the restaurant were dead quiet because of the upleasant scene made by this waiter. Tourists and locals beware!
