Peter my mother bought a brand new house in Sabie town 4 years ago through standard bank. Soon after we moved in we realised that the roof was leaking and the house was developing cracks. We notified the lawyers and they contacted the builder but he could not remedy the situation. We then reported the matter to the bank but the bank told us that we should take up the matter with the contractor, which is strange since they technically own the house . we reported the matter to NHBRC only to be told that the house is not registered with them so they cannot assist us. We then asked for an inspection report at the municipal offices but the inspector said he never inspected the house. We consulted an engeneer to evaluate the house and he indicated that the house has major structural defects the report was forwarded to the bank which did not draw any response from them. We do not understand how the bank can finance a house which is not registered with NHBRC and now they don't want to help us to solve this problem. we dont have the money to afford legal representation. Peter can you please help us to get the bank to take some of the responsibility so that my mother can get a proper house.
