I had signed up with King Price Insurance on the 22/03/13 with my policy due to commence on the 01/04/13. I received a better quote from another insurance company and decided to cancel with King Price before any debit orders go off my bank account. I had phoned thrice on the 22/03/13 to cancel to no avail. My request had been noted on the system. On the 24/03/13 a debit order went off from my account for the policy initiation fee. This is ultimately a breach in contract and is a criminal offence as according to the consumer rights act if i am not satisfied with a service I have time to cancel my contract. I am afraid if this issue is not resolved I will take this matter to the short term insurance ombudsman and refer my complaint to the small claims court. This will serve as my first written warning.
