Decreased Credit Limit!!

I recently paid off my credit card which had a balance of about R7430.00 outstanding.
After having paid it off, I received and sms to let me know that you've increased my credit limit to R8950 and I quote "in line with my consent". I went to fill up my tank yesterday, and my card declined so I just checked my online banking only to find that I now have half the credit limit and R0.00 funds available, I was given this "increase" just over a week ago! What's this about?
Do you simply decrease your client's credit limit when they pay their accounts off? I did not consent to you doing that at all and I'm not impressed. Please show me a clause stating that you're allowed to do so? Had I known this I would've just closed off this credit card!
