Yesterday I withdrew money at an ATM - ID: D567, at the Mall @ Carnival in Brakpan. The machine returned my card and I received an SMS confirming the withdrawal. However the ATM screen froze and did not produce the money nor a receipt. I immediately contacted the Standard Bank card division and spoke to several people before being transferred to Rebecca. She advised me that I should go to a Standard Bank Branch and complete an ATM Claim form and within 24 hours my money would be returned to my account. I went to the branch at the Lifestyle Shopping Centre in Centurion and was told by the teller (Loraine) and the branch manager (Moya), that Rebecca had misled me as there is no ATM Claim form and that it would take 15 working days to investigate the situation as Standard Bank does not service the ATM machines themselves, a 3rd party does. In the meantime I am forced to wait for my money and feel that this is completely unacceptable. This is a fault by the ATM servicing company & Standard Bank yet I must suffer the consequences! I am considering moving my account to another bank as I have had endless problems with Standard Bank. I think Standard Bank should rethink their slogan!
