I have had a student loan through FNB since 2003 and have never had one good experience with them. I am currently busy with my 4th degree and the problems haven't stopped. The latest issue is that they are charging me capital repayments instead of interest only. Speaking to the call centre is pathetic- they are permanently "experiencing higher than normal call volumes" and i have been transferred to up to 10 different people and departments in one call. NO ONE EVER GETS BACK TO ME. Now they are telling me that my account is in arrears- how is that possible when it is taken off by debit order each month??? Furthermore, I am paying interest at a higher rate than the surety's overdraft interest rate- how can that be possible when one person with one credit profile who banks at FNB pays higher interest on a student loan than an overdraft AND a credit card. I've even had issues where the branch has LOST my ceded insurance policy so now I have to pay the FNB insurance which is more than 10 times the cost of my personal policy (which I still pay as well). FNB- your ad campaigns are great and successful but your service is SHOCKING!!!
