No matter how prepared you are it's not enough

I phoned absa to find out what is needed to change my cards from my maiden name to my marriage name, as they will be expiring soon. I was told my ID book, and my marriage certificate, I asked must the marriage certificate be the original or a copy - I was told either one will be fine. (I called santyger branch).
I went to absa cape gate to do the above changes. After waiting in the que for who knows how long. I finally get to the front, I am told that they won't be able to do the name change as I need my original marriage certificate. I said "but I phoned and asked", her reply was " who did you speak to". I said someone at santyger. Her response was "well, if they want to accept copies then..." at this point i cut her short and said, fine, I will be closing my account with absa. Which I am in the process of doing. I did not get a sorry for being misinformed, but it is our company policy... NOTHING... and I am 8 months pregnant, so after waiting in the que and then being turned down and no apology, I find this service pathetic. This is why my husband has been trying to convince me to bank with FNB for ages. You pay less and get better service!
