Standard Bank unprepared to help in time of need

I bank with Standard Bank. Sometimes there have been hiccups but mostly the account has operated fine. In December I had a crisis which left my account overdrawn. As a precaution I went into the bank and explained the situation. I asked for an overdraft which was declined. I asked why and was told she didn't know what the code stood for. I tried to increase my credit card limit and was told I couldn't because my current account was overdrawn. A short term load was decline. So by January Beep Bank had returned most of my debit orders and charged me almost R2000 in penalty fees meaning the next month started overdrawn reducing my account balance. And so it started again. Standard Bank are going to return my debit orders for insufficient funds and change me penalties to do so. I asked for some time to make a plan but today they said no, they are going to reverse the orders and charge me penalties. So they don't provide assistance when you need it (you have to have money to get an overdraft) and they make no effort to help you get your account back in order once you have run into trouble. I needed short term help, but they chose to rather make money from my situation-shame!
