I am writing this on behalf of my mother who fell victim to ATM @ Cnr Bree & Harrison Str in Joburg. Her card was retained by the ATM and she immediately contacted STB Bank to report the problem. A guy dressed as a security guard approached the ATM while she was busy on the phone with STB Bank to block the card and forced himself to get on to the ATM and retrieved the card without her been aware. The consultant she was speaking to assured her that the card has been blocked, but the was able to withdraw money even exceeding her daily withdrawal limit. My mother then waited for the bank to open and once again went in to report the matter and get another card. She was then informed at the bank that a withdrawal has been made, and that an investigation will be done. She received a call this morning and the guy who called said they will not refund the money. He accused my mother of been involved in the crime and that she is the one who withdrew the cash, and thats the reason of no refund. We find it very strange that she reported the card been retained immediately when it happened and her withdrwal limit was exceeded as well. how is that possible?
