If your property is insured with Absa insurance please read the following:
Just because you have a bond with Absa that does not mean you are compelled to insure your property with Absa insurance (no matter what they say, shop around). My boundary wall collapsed due to subsidence. After 7 months of fighting with Absa the following happened:
1. My house is grossly over insured ie the premiums I pay are too high.
2. Absa increase the value of your property every year (therefore my over insurance)
3. In 10 years, I have had no previous claims against Absa.
4. The excess is calculated at 1% of total value of the whole property irrespective of value of the wall.
5. The boundary wall is double insured ie the neighbour and myself are both paying premiums to Absa on the same boundary wall
6. Absa only paid 19% of the repair costs
7. Shop around you might be pleasantly surprised
