Account settlement

I requested a settlement amount for 24 December and on this date paid the said amount. The debit order due for 26 December had been processed that morning, so I deducted the amount paid by debit order amount from the amount I paid directly. At the beginning of January I however then noticed that there was still amount outstanding on my account. The lady I spoke to tried to tell me that I could not deduct the debit order amount and that I should have paid the full amount and waited to be paid back the overpaid amount. This is ridiculous - whether the money came off my account via debit order or whether I paid it directly into their account the due amount was paid on the date stated. I now see that the settlement amount has gone from R300 odd to over R900!!!

I have spoken to and sent repeated emails requesting feedback on this matter with still no response. And of course the interest they will claim is due is steadily increasing by the day!!

I would like my account settled according to the full outstanding amount paid on the settlement date quoted.
