Refuse to pay back after withdrawal

On the 15 December 2013 went to Carlswald lifestyle centre to withdraw cash at the standard bank ATM but it was not working then went to nearest ATM which was ABSA ATM when there tried to withdraw but something weird was happening with the machines and I took it maybe because I wasn't too familiar with the ABSA system my card was retained. My cellphone I left at home I immediately used my husbands cellphone he was in the car. I called Standard Bank call center to stop my card and we immediately drove home to fetch my cellphone and that's when I realized that there was a R5000 withdrawal I immediately called Standard bank again and they put me through to division and they immediately stopped all cards linked to my cheque account to stop further withdrawal. But before then I withdrew R2000 because we where leaving that evening for holidays and was public holiday next day so banks would be closed. Almost 1 month later after filling in forms and all I was told today that Standard Bank will not pay me back because this was not but so I have to go to SAPs to open a case. How is it not when my account was withdrawn over the limit?? I'm very frustrated.
