Essential Med claims to offer unlimited doctors and dental visits to network approved providers... what a joke! I have recently found out we were expecting our second child and have had nothing but problems from Essential Med. I have been to the NETWORK APPROVED GP who now refuses to see me or write a referral letter for an ultrasound because she has not received a cent from Essential Med in over two months. After a miscarriage scare last month i had to go to an out of network doctor (paid cash) in order to get a referral for an ultrasound to check baby was ok. Again I had to pay cash for the ultrasound as a well known Radiologist does not recognise Essential Med. EM apparently offer R1000 specialist cover per year but I have phoned just about every Gynae in Cape Town and not one will accept Essential Med. My monthly chronic medication from Clicks gets rejected every single month as well! Why am I with Essential Med if I have to pay cash for every single visit?? Then trying to claim the money back from them is another mission. Last time I waited 3 months for one doctors claim to be paid!! - that was also a network approved doctor who I had to pay cash to visit! Disgusted!
