A client for 20y
On 6 Dec via Internet Banking I found that my balance was lower than expected. Investigation showed that over the previous 10 days withdrawals had taken place every evening at approximately 8:30 at various ATMs that I had never been to totalling R20000! Each of these evenings I was at home with my family with my card in my possession. I immediately confirmed my card was in my wallet, reported this & cancelled all ATM cards. I was told that the investigators would use forensics to confirm these transactions were & that I would be reimbursed within 10 days if this was the case (case 3520653). On 24 Dec I received communication rejecting the claim on the grounds that "your statement has been sent to you every day when the transactions transpired and you did not notify us in time". This refers to a free daily email service. The claim rejected because I do not check statements every day.
It is apparent that Standard Bank
1. Is at risk of cloning
2. Are aware of this risk
3. Minimises this risk by penalising clients
4. Does little to apprehend
In light of the above, is anyone brave enough to be a Standard Bank client?
