Our car was broken into last week and a number of portable possessions were taken. These were covered by dial direct who got back to us to say that they would not cover the items as there is a limitation on items from a vehicle. All our items listed were either in the cubby hole or hidden from view.
When I looked into it I found this on their website:

which clearly advertises insurance for portable possessions from a vehicle. I also looked into the paperwork for the policy they had initially sent me when I took out the policy. The limitation detailed in the policy is ambiguous at best. I eventually found the limitation tucked away in some correspondence they sent me earlier this year.
Had I known that they wouldn't cover these items in this situation I would never have taken out this insurance. Really, this is such a gaping hole in this kind of insurance that Dial Direct should be required to be much more forthcoming with the information on all correspondence they send and emphasise it when they initially offer it to consumers. As it is I feel I have been.
