Payment of bond

My husband died in January 2012. The bond was registered in both our names. when I reported his death they adviced me to send them al the relevant documents then the transferring of the bond (under Substitution action 45) will be registered in my name.
The past 4 to 5 months Standardbank told me that i must apply for a new bond and every times it has been declined. The reason was that on my Cheque account was a d/order send back while in the meantime the repayment of the bond is up to date. When we bought the house it was not suitable to live in and we have spend about R500, 000.00 to renovate the house. Is it not possible to grant me the loan because i will pay the bond no matter what!
