On the 10th November, the Absa atm in Auckland Park swollowed my card.By the time I drove him to call to cancel my card, which took no longer than 5 minutes. My cheque account and savings account had been cleaned out.
I cancelled the card and reported the matter. I was told that if their investigations proove that I was no neglegant I will be refunded the money.
I had to contact Absa to find out that I will not be refunded as my card and pin was used. I was then referred to the Ombudsman, where they will further investigate. I was contacted by Melvin and informed that I will not be refunded as my card and my pin was used. He said that Absa will give me R1500, but would not provide a reason as to why.
I asked him how is it possible that criminal have my card that was swollowed by the ATM and I left without the card. The security guard and the camera footage will prove this. Absa could not answer, and the only reply was that they will give me R1400.
I have requested the footage and will lay criminal charges. SWITCH TO ANY OTHER BANK BUT ABSA. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING FISHY GOING ON THERE IF CRIMINICAL CAN AND THEY OFFER YOU R1500 TO KEEP QUIET.
