50% premium increase despite no claims

What could possibly have warranted a 50% premium increase, as detailed in a letter emailed to me on Friday 6 December? I have 0 claims and my policy inception date is not January, nor is my policy renewal date January. But from 1 January, you say my premium increases by 50%

I suspect that that it may have something to do with my debit order being rejected for December and returned as not paid, but this was due to a genuine error in a paypal transaction which took a lot more out of my account that should have been taken, hence my debit order bounced. I did phone Dial Direct to offer to pay the premium manually on the same day that the debit was returned but a friendly chap told me not to worry about it, it will be re-debited in a few days time. But 5 days later Dial Direct decide to increase my premium by 50%? for a client with no claims, that's disgusting!

Bye bye Dial Direct. I don't want to be doing business with companies like you. Please cancel my policy effective immediately.
