My 86 year old mother, who is in poor health instructed ABSA telephonically to re-invest her money in a fixed term account, which was completed.
She also advised that her postal address had changed and the consultant informed her that she would change her details as per the instruction.
Subsequently, her statement is was posted to the incorrect address, at which time I contacted ABSA to notify them that this was the case.
I am now informed that we cannot change her postal address telephonically. This being the case, please explain the following: She was able to affect changes on her account telephonically, but cannot change the postal address telephonically? One agent has no problem in agreeing to change the postal address telephonically, yet another one says ints not possible. What policy does ABSA follow? Is it a case of "whatever is the flavour of the day? So now, will ABSA send an agent to my home, where my mom now resides, at a time that suites me, to get a written instruction from her to change the postal address or better still to close this account so that she can invest her money elsewhere?
