I have a credit card with Standard Bank which I stopped using - I am actually working to close the account. I pay Standard Bank without using their card. During the month of October and November I have been getting sms' mms's and calls from Standard Bank telling me that my account is in arrears. This obviously came as a shock and a BIG IRRITATION. So on Saturday I decided to go to the local Std Bank Branch, and was informed that I AM NOT in arrears, in actual fact my next installment is due end of the month. So I was put through to the credit card division where I held the phone for more than 10 minutes, until I got to a point where I felt holding further was a waste of time.
I am working towards closing the account and want NOTHING to do with the bank. I told the people at enquires that I feel harrased, and I really do. My phone is SPAMMED with MMS' and SMS' from Standard Bank as well as voicemail recordings. I think its one thing if I were actually in areas, BUT I AM NOT and I am very irritated by this.
A recommendation - why not do what ABSA does? get people to call and resolve the issue right there, as oppose to spamming with machines dialing my number.
IRRITATED!!!
