The process for taking out a student loan at Standard Bank has become such a hassle that there "Help You Move You Banking Forward" slogan is a vast contradiction to the experience I have been having.

At the start of September I applied for an additional R15000 student loan to cover my fees due at the end of September. My forms were sent to Summerstrand Branch P.E and correctly filled in. The forms were then sent to Centurion Branch and this is where the problems started.

My surety filled in the forms required of him for the first time. A week went by before he received another call to state one form was filled in incorrectly. He then filled in the forms again and was informed the forms were on there way to my branch.

Today my Branch received the forms and after much fighting and R200 airtime later, I was informed the forms were not filled in correctly due to Centurion not checking the forms. This has caused another delay in the loan and potentially put me another month in arrears with varsity and I am responsible for paying those fines and the negative credit record.

During all of this I received no communication from Standard Bank Except the Calls I made to them.
