Standard Bank Funeral Plan

My husband went to standard bank earlier on this year to open an account at Standard bank Southdale when we were there he was offered the Standard bank funeral plan by Natasha and he signed up for it we were told that there would be a waiting period of 6 months. Unfortunately he passed away on the 05 October 2013, i went to standard bank to make a claim on the policy and the money was paid out, when he signed up for the policy he was told that the beneficiary would receive R 2000 free embedded dependant care plan which standard bank is now sending me documents saying that they will not be making this payment and now referring me to Liberty Active Limited he didn't sign up for the cover with Liberty but he signed up for the policy with Standard bank we had not gone there to sign up for funeral cover rather to open an account we were never told that there is an 18 month window period what is this all about we have been making monthly payments and now Standard Bank is telling me to contact the ombud or sue Liberty if the issue is not resolved is this really what I should be dealing with at this time.
