My debit order goes off on the 25th as I get paid my salary on the 25th of each month. If the 25th happens to fall on a weekend, my account gets debited on the Friday, as my salary gets paid into my account on the Friday. However, it has happened a couple of times that when the 25th falls on a Monday, my account still gets debited on the Friday. The problem is that most companies consider a Monday to be a normal working day and so only pay your salary in on the Monday. This results in my bank account to be overdrawn and costs me money in bank charges and penalties.
Upon contacting Nedbank to move my debit order date to the 31st to ensure there is money in my account, I get told that it is unfortunately impossible as I get paid on the 25th and therefore they cannot change the date. So the result is that every time the 25th falls on a Monday, I have pay penalties and extra bank charges at my bank because of this.
