Debit order for insurance I didn't want

I requested quotes for Discovery Life, Invest and Insure through a broker. After initially agreeing to the products (to be activated 01 Dec 2013), I received additional information regarding the Discovery Life product that I was not aware of. I decided not to continue with any business with the broker and sent an email to the broker who acknowledged receipt of the email. The email to the broker stated (in Afrikaans): "I decided not to continue with Discovery Life, Discovery Insure and Discovery Invest". Seemed pretty clear to me. Great was my surprise when this morning I receive a bank SMS stating a debit order for Discovery Insure went off my account. Shortly after, I received an SMS that my current insurer debit order also went through. I phoned the call centre, who confirmed the policy is active and was initiated by the broker. The lady explained to me that it is my best interest to contact the broker, since I am not a direct client. (Interestingly the quote I received from the call centre was a whopping R800 more than the broker quote). The broker is employed by Discovery, so I do not see why I should contact the broker to sort this mess out.
