Standard Bank
Illegal recovery of money after sequestration

I was sequestrated in 2008. My credit card and overdraft with STD bank formed part of my pre-sequestration debt. To my surprise, 4 years into my sequestration, I was contacted by debt collectors appointed by STD bank who demanded that I repay the debt that formed part of my sequestration. I sent the debt collectors all the relevant documentation regarding my sequestration. To my utmost surprise I found out on Saturday that STD bank listed my credit card on ITC. This frivolous and unlawful conduct by STD bank to try and recover monies that they are not entitled to caused me great embarrassment. I intend to pursue this matter with the banking council, the banking ombudsman and will seek legal advice if STD bank does not rectify this listing against my name. 5 Years after my sequestration this adverse listing prevents me from obtaining any credit and shows as a monthly expense on my ITC record, meaning that I am indebted to STD bank for R25 000 per month. According to any affordability calculation I don't qualify for any form of credit. This conduct of STD bank is clearly in contempt of a court order that was made on 23 May 2008.
