Yesterday I deposited a dividend cheque for R664 into my current account. This afternoon Standard reversed the deposit. I spent almost an hour on the phone with them this afternoon. The call centre people cannot tell me why this has happened. They do not know where the cheques is. From the conversations it seems that some of them do not understand the concept of a cheque. I am told it will take a minimum of six working days to find out what has happened. This is not acceptable. I want my money or the cheque and a proper explanation from somebody who has a knowledge of banking.
