Very Disappointing

My parents' home was broken in to on 8 August 2013 and quite a few items were before the police and security company arrived.

Their claim was submitted that following week and after a month and a half (with several unresponsive feedback queries from Santam's side), their claim was declined on 26 September 2013.

The point which I would like to make is that my dad has been a Santam client for thirty two (32) years and this being only their second claim (both for household robberies) it gets denied for the fact that there wasn't a security gate on the door which the robbers used to gain entry.

My biggest fear is that they are expected to live in Fort Knox and if, heaven forbid, they get caught inside the house with the robbers then there is no way of getting out and Santam doesn't cover their lives either, only household contents... subject to the fine print.

As per Santam's website: "We believe that insurance is something that should add value, not questions or uncertainty. It should provide peace of mind, not parameters or excuses"... i'm not quite sure.
