I noticed today that Standard Bank Card division debited my credit card with R200 for my credit card and R200 for the my garage card. Upon querying with the card division i was advised that this was annual service fees for each card.
I requested that the garage card be cancelled as i object to the fee of R200 for a card that was used perhaps once in the last 5 years. I then requested a pro rata credit for these fees given that the card is active for January 2013. i was told by both the call centre person as well as Rachel Mabizela that the fees is not refundable on a pro rata basis even if i cancell the credit card. i was refered to the pricing guides.
i regard this a a complete rip off. I'm not happy. The staff were completely unhelpful.
In my opinion, no where does it say that there will not be a prorata refund if a card is cancelled. I have several accounts with Std Bank. i think its time to move all of my accounts!! STD Bank, in my opinion, are ripping me off.
