I recently moved to Nedbank and as staff, I had no option but to move my accounts to Nedbank to take advantage of FBT. At Absa, the payment was taken directly from my salary. Having resigned and completed all the necessary documentation, I was under the assumption that the HR Department would automatically remove the payment instructions. They did not, and consequently, the AVAF attempted to withdraw money from my salary, which no longer existed. I received several calls from AVAF and even when I informed them that Nedbank was in the process of taking the car over, they would hear none of it and promised that if anything was overpaid, it would be returned to me. I notice that the final settlement to Absa was R137K. My AVAF is closed, but no communication as to whether there was a surplus or not. Emails sent to Absa have drawn a blank. Of cause, one does get the SMS confirmation that the query has been resolved even if no calls came from Absa
