After banking with Standard Bank for about 20 years, they were unable to supply me with a new card for around two weeks. As a result I had no access to my cash. So I decided to close my accounts and go to a different bank. I told the teller to settle all my accounts and close my entire profile. Six months later I get a call from their collections department saying that I still owe them R2000 rand on my credit card. I immediately settled, but now I have a bad credit history at the bureau. After settling the outstanging amount I phoned Standard Bank and they told me they'd clear my name at the bureau, but they never did. I phoned them again and they said they would but again, they never did. After phoning them a third time, I ended up speaking with this stubborn women called Mathilda who said everything's my fault. She forced me to answer in yes/no sentences like a criminal. All I went is a clear credit record so that I can buy a car or something. To think that this must happen after being a client of their's for over 20 years. Absolutely pathetic.
