I have been a client of Outsurance for many years and have always been satisfied with their service. On 5 August I reported a minor accident to them on one of my vehicles - a 1996 Nissan Sentra. This vehicle was towed in for repairs where the total damage was calculated to be about R7600. On Monday, 12 August, I contacted the panel-beaters. I was then informed that more damage had been found. The total cost of repairs works out at just over R12000. Today I contacted the panel-beaters (a week later) and was told that Outsurance had informed them on 15 August that the car (valued at R15300) was not economically repairable. However, Outsurance never contacted me about this, Furthermore, every call I make to the contact person on her direct number (Evelyn van der Westhuizen) ends up on her voicemail and I can't reach her, nor a supervisor to discuss the issue.

This means that Outsurance will pay me the value of the car, less the excess, and then they will take the car which, although the market value is only R15300, can be sold for much more. This is not a fair deal as far as I'm concerned and is not in line with the type of service that I am used to get from Outsurance.
