Absa outdated protocols / procedures

I have been an ABSA client now for over 10 years.
This is the second time in recent history Absa has frustrated me with illogical procedures. I got married, and this morning after collecting my new ID book I headed off to update my details for my company at FNB, for my cell phone at Vodacom, and my personal banking at ABSA. In order to change my name however the marrige docs and new ID were not enough for ABSA, they said I have to give proof of residency again. Why? Neither FNB nor Vodacom required this, as it is a name change not a residential change. That logic didn't fly with ABSA. So I also had with me the stamped copy, by a commissioner of oaths, of the Home Affairs marriage document with my husbands details and address and my details and address, plus our pics and thumb prints. But this couldnt be accepted as it is not on the acceptable list for ABSA.
Instead what she insisted I produce is an invoice that was either SMS'd or emailed to me with the address on it on my new surname. Her reasoning was that the law requires proof from a bill posted to you. The fact that I receive these bills digitally not physically, wasnt an apparent concern. Why make things so frustrating?
