Absa
Billing insurance without proper authorisation

Although I had to proof that I was proper and fully insured when I entered into the finance contract before I could get my vehicle, after nearly three years ABSA debitted my account with additional insurance from March 2013. My contract stipulated that I am responsible for and proper insurance on the vehicle. It did not stipulated that during my agreement term that I have to proof at any stage that I am still proper insured.
Phoning Kgomotso, she told me that a letter was send on 10 January 2013 and if I didn't respond with full details of my own insurance, Hollard will insured me. I have not received any such letter - Post Office was on strike during the first few months of this year, and apparently ABSA are not sending emails where such response could have been proofed, audited, authorised etc. Nobody phoned me to confirmed the letter details or receiving of the letter. So no authorisation to debit my account with additional insurance.
For six months my account was debitted with R1657.66, an substantial amount of money, resulted that my overdraft was exceeded and additional costs and interest paid.
It is unacceptable to charge any bank account without proper authorisation.
