My Amex card is paid by Debit order from a Nedbank account to Amex card division (Nedbank) on the 26th of each month. When I draw a statement - the payment is reflected and my balance is reflected minus the payment immediately, however, the available balance is only updated 5 days later. I queried this with the call centre and they tell me that because once in the 2 years that I have held the card my debit order was returned. The fact that my salary was paid in late AND I immediately paid the outstanding amount has nothing to do with their decision to not update the available balance for 5 days. Funny when I queried the same issue last month, the callcentre person immediately said that this was not correct and fixed it - pity not all people working at Nedbank have the same helpful attitude and pity that their policys benefit them and not the consumer...
