On behalf of Dr. P. Bekker: Monday, 1/7 an sms is received that R1000.00 was withdrawn @ an ATM from his account. He was alert as he did not do any ATM transactions on that day. Tues 2/7 - went to ABSA & explained what happend, took his details & advise him to open an case @ SAPS. He did that. He received a letter from ABSA, dated 9/7/13, inform him that ABSA's investigation is complete & NO compensation will be made - it is his responsiblitiy to keep his card & pin-no. safe. A week later, the SAPS come to his house & informed him that with their investigstion they saw the CCTV footage, an unknown man withdraw money from his account. Date & time correspond. He was visiting some one sick (after church - he is a semi-retired minister), at the time some one was @ the ABSA ATM. His card & pin no. was in his safe possession! Only explaination is that his card was cloned. He has been a client of ABSA for more than 50 yrs, he is an honest, responsible & loyal client. No evidence of ABSA's "investigation" was given - and they have not contacted him again - one can just asume they haven't even followed up on the SAPS investigation - becauce they don't CARE! Sies ABSA - stink!!!
